Step Into the Light...

Beautiful things belong in the light…

God loves you. All of you. It is a fact that is not up for debate. He sees the good, the bad, the ugly and yet His love remains resolute. Nothing in your life takes God by surprise. And I mean nothing! He should not be confused with other people in your life who only love certain versions of you…the versions you allow them to see.

Pretending is hard. Keeping up appearances is tiresome and can become difficult to manage. At some point you have to come back to the reality of you. God wants to be God in every aspect of your life. The part of you that sparkles. The part of you that struggles. The part of you that shines. The part of you that hides in the darkness.

As women, we are prone to hiding. We have cover-up, make-up, concealer, Spanx, filters, gifts, talents, prestige, associations and platforms. Nothing is wrong with any of that until we use the cover-up, make-up, concealer, Spanx, filters, gifts, talents, prestige, associations and platforms to hide our truth.

In Psalm 51:6, the psalmist declares that God desires truth on the inward parts. So why are you hiding? It is literally impossible to hide anything from God, who is Omniscient and Omnipresent. The things we tuck away cannot be hidden from His view. Locked doors keep people out, but God cannot be locked out of any room or any space. Darkness is light before Him. He is privy to it all.

God wants to heal you. The real you.

Sometimes we fear what people would think if they knew the secrets we harbor: fear, shame, guilt, low self-esteem, weakness, insecurity, loneliness, doubt, mental instability, health challenges, financial hardship, marital upheavals, trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety…

My sister, today, I encourage you to lay it at the altar of God’s love. Know that what you are hiding does not change His mind about you. When He looks at you and when He looks at your ‘stuff’ all He sees is beauty. He sees His beloved child, He sees His beautiful handmaiden.

This day, God is offering you freedom. He has the power to destroy every chain and every yoke that binds, constricts, distorts and defies the woman He created you to be! The path to healing and restoration will not be easy, but it will be worth it.

You deserve better. You deserve to walk in the Light!
