Remaining quiet when there is so much that could be said is difficult but sometimes it’s the best favor you could pay yourself. Somethings don’t deserve a response. You must be careful about giving someone a ‘piece of your mind’ because almost always it comes at the high expense of surrendering your ‘peace of mind.’
Sometimes it has to be enough that you know the truth of a matter. People will think what they think and say what they say, so why waste precious time and energy trying to convince them otherwise? Doing so is an exercise in futility…and my friend, you don’t have time for that!
Growing up, my grandmother had a saying which has always stayed with me, “You can show them better than you can tell them.” Nowadays, everyone says, I’m a Christian, yet some gossip, dig deep ditches hoping you will meet your death, and engage in wicked character assassination…which in my humble opinion, does not sound very ‘Christian,’ and I know God would agree!
Being Christian means being Christ-like. And being Christ-like means demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit and not the works of the flesh. Being Christ-like is choosing to love even when that love is not reciprocated. It’s about being kind, considerate, honest and true even when it places you in precarious situations.
Peace of mind is a priceless commodity. Peace of mind requires strict discipline. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is worth sacrificing your peace of mind.
Sometimes rather than defending your truth it’s better to be quiet and allow God to reveal the truth in His time. Sometimes when you open your mouth to defend vicious lies you run the risk of your feelings clouding your better judgement, and your words will do nothing more than place you in a bad light, which falls right into the enemy’s playbook. Instead of telling them, show them! Let your light, actions, and behavior glorify your Heavenly Father. This speaks volumes.
The Bible puts it this way, “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.” (Proverbs 13:3 KJV)
Learn to be quiet. Allow God to avenge you.
Trust wholeheartedly that in the end truth will always win. Decide today to redirect your energy. Let people say what they say. Instead of allowing their lies and innuendo to upset you, use that energy to live your best life…the life that God planned for you to live. Trust that no demon in hell has the power to prevent God’s will from happening.
Keep loving. Keep smiling. Keep being you. Before long, your testimony will be that of Psalm 23:5 “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”
