Shattered Beauty...

No matter how strong you are, brokenness happens.

It doesn’t mean you’ve turned into a weakling. It doesn’t mean you now have a huge deficit in character. And it certainly doesn’t mean God is punishing you. Somehow, if you live long enough, life will bring with it trials and heartaches you never could have imagined! There comes a time when you lay aside pretense, hang up your cape, and come from behind your title and you are forced to reckon with reality: you are not Super Woman; you are human.

So, because you are human and because you have a pulse, you have feelings! Even though you are strong, intelligent, gifted beyond measure, and anointed of God, it doesn’t give you immunity to pain and suffering. It absolutely hurts when you lose a loved one. At times, even ministry hurts. Betrayal hurts. Failed relationships hurt. Fallen dreams hurt. All of these can literally crush your spirit and leave behind a trail of brokenness that only God can heal.

But the Good News is there is hope!

Brokenness doesn’t have to become a life-sentence; especially since you are a child of the King! You don’t have to battle brokenness alone and you don’t have to drown your brokenness in things that will only drive you farther away from God. Whatever has caused your brokenness did not take God by surprise, so because He is not surprised by it, He has already made provision for it. He is the remedy!

Despite how alone you may feel right now, God is nearer to you than you think. And though it may be hard to believe, there is an upside to brokenness. It is in this state that we become humbled before Him and completely yielded to His will, so much so that we are solely dependent upon His grace for life and strength…and that’s a good thing!

How honest have you been with God about how you are feeling?

People can be ‘judgy’ but never confuse people with God. He created you and knows all about you. You can come to Him boldly, without guilt, without shame. Unlike people, He understands your frailty.

Instead of hiding your broken pieces, bring them to Him. All of them. Acknowledge your feelings.  Denial only prolongs the suffering and makes things worse. Surrender those feelings to God and don’t take them back. Embrace the truth of God’s Word and only concern yourself with what He says about you!

Even if it feels like your heart is shattered in a million tiny pieces and your spirit feels broken beyond repair, remember this, broken crayons still color. Place your hand in the Master’s hands and allow Him to create in you something new!
