Let It Go!

Letting go can be one of the hardest things you ever have to do, but it’s also one of the kindest favors you could ever pay your heart. Holding on to people and things and circumstances can do more damage over time and leave you stuck in a dry and painful place.
Think about it. When your hand is closed you can’t receive anything else. All you have is what you’re holding. I hear God saying that it’s time to release the pain, the heartache, the disappointment, the humiliation, the shame and any other negative emotion that you are holding onto.
Yes, it happened. Yes, it hurt. And no, you can’t go back and change any of it. But what you can do is lay the burden at His feet. Release it from your mind. Release it from your heart. I know it’s hard to imagine, but there is something more beautiful on the other side of this. God has so much more in store for you. More joy, more happiness, and peace you can’t begin to fathom.

But His blessings lie in front of you and not behind you. The past is the past. Instead of considering your mistakes as failures, consider them as lessons. You learned things that only experience could teach you. You had to bump your head. You had to feel the pangs of heartbreak. Even though they hurt, they didn’t destroy you. You survived the betrayal. You survived the divorce. Relationships may have failed but you are not a failure! The fact that you are reading this means you are still alive!
Whatever happened didn’t kill you; in fact, it only made you stronger! You may have lost 'things,' but you didn’t lose you! So let it go! Forgive them—even if they never apologize. The closure you seek doesn’t have to involve them apologizing or explaining why they did what they did. Closing that chapter of your life knowing that you are wiser and still beautiful, and worthy of God’s best is all the closure you need. You are better, not bitter!
Now that your hands are opened you have a greater capacity to receive all that God has for you.
He wants to give you “beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness!” (Isaiah 61:1-3) Open your hands and open your heart and make room for your blessing!
Ashes are the currency for beauty!
Let that sink in. Wash away the residue on your hands. You are now free from the past that held you in bondage. Stop mourning the ashes and begin to praise God for your new season, new memories waiting to happen, and new opportunities to soar higher heights! Let Go and Let God!!
